What New In August!
Jess George
Come stop by the library and meet our new Youth Services Librarian, Jess George. She likes to go by Miss Jess and has a cute pug name Petunia. Before Jess came to DAML she worked at East Greenwich Free Library in Rhode Island for over three years. She has a passion for creating fun and inviting spaces for both kids and teens, while igniting their interests for reading. Before finding her love of librarianship Jess studied neuropsychology at Boston University and she used to bake cupcakes for a living. As well Jess lived in New Zealand for 4 years after college and ran an art collective called Makeshift, where she worked with artists, writers and bands. Her favorite foods are pizza and broccoli (but not together) and her favorite holiday is Halloween. If you want to know more about our new librarian stop in and introduce yourself. I promise she won't bite.NEW BOOKS IN AUGUST
Technically You Started It
By Lana Wood Johnson
When a guy named Martin
Nathaniel Munroe II texts you, it should be obvious who you're talking
to. Except there's two of them (it's a long story), and Haley thinks
she's talking to the one she doesn't hate.
A question about a class project rapidly evolves into an all-consuming conversation. Haley finds that Martin is actually willing to listen to her weird facts and unusual obsessions, and Martin feels like Haley is the first person to really see who he is. Haley and Martin might be too awkward to hang out in real life, but over text, they're becoming addicted to each other.
There's just one problem: Haley doesn't know who Martin is. And Martin doesn't know that Haley doesn't know. But they better figure it out fast before their meet-cute becomes an epic meet-disaster . . .

When We Were Lost
By Kevin Wignall
Tom Calloway didn’t want to be on this trip. Tom doesn’t want to bond with his classmates – he isn’t the bonding type. He’d rather they just left him alone, and he’s always been unfriendly enough that they’ve been happy to oblige. But that was before the crash. Now he finds himself building the friendships he’s always tried to avoid. And despite his determined efforts to be left alone, he begins to see that he might be the one to challenge Joel and pull off another miracle, by getting all the survivors to safety.
When We Were Lost, featuring elements of Lost and Lord of the Flies, is a novel of survival, of teenagers thrust into a hostile environment. It’s a novel of life and death and the razor-thin dividing line between them. And it’s a novel about finding a place for yourself in a world that’s infinitely complex.
